Victoria & Albert Museum

The Museum, founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, is the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects. From its earliest days the practical use of the collection has been very much emphasized as opposed to that of 'High Art', George Wallis, the first Keeper of Fine Art Collection, passionately promoted the idea of wide art education through the museum collections.
