A fascinating British-made jigsaw puzzle featuring 10 different Marks and variants of the iconic Supermarine Spitfire. Originally designed by British aircraft designer R.J. Mitchell (1895-1937), the Spitfire featured a revolutionary all-metal construction, with sleek, swept-back wings and an unmistakeable Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. It was, alongside the Hurricane, the key aircraft defending British skies during the Battle of Britain in 1940 but went on to develop into 24 different Marks, until retirement in the 1960s. Captured in colourful illustrations, compare the Mark I/II to the final Mark XXIV, which doubled the horsepower of the first spitfire to 2,000 horsepower.
