Description
A jigsaw puzzle to bring cheer to even dismal days with a colourful design inspired by jolly, 20th century seed packets from America, each with an uplifting phrase or quality associated with the plant. While trade seed and nursery catalogues were at their peak in the early 1900s, the earliest catalogue is thought to have been created by Emmanual Sweets (1552-1612) who published a catalogue of Dutch bulbs at a book fair in Frankfurt in 1612. This fun jigsaw is from an illustration by contemporary Toronto-based artist Emily Taylor, and challenges puzzlers to piece together 18 seed packet designs, from angelica and borage; to wild rose and zinnia. Mixing bluebells to express gratitude; snowdrops symbolising a fresh start; and coreopsis inviting us to ‘live in full bloom’: each jaunty design promises garden-lovers and puzzlers alike hours of jigsaw entertainment.
