Description
Engage your mind in a captivating challenge with our mathematical plywood puzzle, inspired by the remarkable 'Antikythera mechanism' discovered on a shipwreck in 1901. This ancient Greek artifact, often hailed as the world's first known analogue computer, astounded the world with its intricate design and advanced functionality. Using technology that was lost to antiquity until the 14th century, this baffling mechanism is thought to have been used to predict astronomical positions and eclipses, as well as the 4-year cycle of the Olympic games. Turn your mental cogs and solve the puzzle by turning the four ‘dials’ of the five layers until all 12 number columns add up to 42.

Not much used over Christmas as it is very time consuming and difficult to solve. The wooden puzzle was well made and pleasant to use but as yet it seems to be at least as complicated to solve as the Rubic cubes were when they were popular. I need to sit down with this puzzle to see just how difficult it is.
Not immediately popular with a gifted and mathematically bright 10 year old grand daughter but perhaps the occasion was not quite right for concentrating on it.

For the Hare Hook friend, who is totally immersed in the digital age: I have looked for some time for a puzzle to compete with on-line material and the mere fact it is labelled as 'Analogue' makes it perfect.
