Royal Horticultural Society
A delightful kit to press your own flowers, then decorate greetings cards for friends and family for a truly personal touch. Decorated with a pretty printed detail of Alstromeria Peregrina, from an 1835 botanical study by acclaimed botanical artist Caroline Maria Applebee (c.1787-1854), the dainty press is a lovely introduction to this timeless craft. Follow the instructions to collect flower specimens and to set up the flower press. Sandwich your flowers between two paper inserts and then sandwich between a layer of cardboard. Build up the layers in the press until full and then secure the between the two wooden panels by tightening the screws and wingnuts to apply even pressure. Place the press in a warm, dry place for 6-8 weeks and then enjoy your flowers; perfect for card-making or a host of other crafts. Used for centuries as a means of recording plant information in herbals, press your own specimens to preserve special memories.
