Description
Fun ceramic lidded owl jar containing delicious British made mini choc chip biscuits. Ceramic biscuit barrels first became popular in the 1860s, inspired by the barrels used as containers on ships. Soon becoming an essential hosting item in any household, novelty designs were developed in the early 20th century such as Burlington Ware produced by John Shaw and Sons which became popular in the 1950s. This novel biscuit jar would make a stand-out addition to any kitchen.

It’s a lovely biscuit barrel with solid ceramic design. Owl head comes off and little hands love to dig deep to fetch a biscuit. Fun and special.

When it arrived, the glazing on the front was extensively crazed (i.e. cracked); also, the rubber ring that helps to keep the jar airtight had been stretched so that it was lose and no longer worked properly.
