Description
A joyous embossed floral keepsake tin recalling Victorian textile patterns created by Warner and Sons from the 1870s. This tin is filled with 150g of clotted cream shortbread. Shortbread arrived in Scottish kitchens during the 12th century due to exchanges with French pastry chefs during the Auld Alliance between France and Scotland. The first printed recipe for shortbread only appeared in 1736, attributed to a Scotswoman named Mrs McLintock and it continued to be expensive to produce, reserved as a luxury, given as a gift or eaten at special occasions such as Christmas, Hogmanay and weddings. In Scotland, it was traditional to break a decorated shortbread cake (infar-cake or dreaming bread) over the head of a new bride on the entrance of her new house. Continue the tradition and give as a charming gift or keep as a self indulgence to be enjoyed year round not just on special occasions.
