Description
A discerning collection of cards focusing on exquisite details from sketches, studies and drawings made by Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519). A master draughtsman, da Vinci’s preparatory drawings exude tenderness and the artist’s enquiring fascination with the natural world. Having stated that ‘the smallest feline is a masterpiece’, the designs include ‘Studies of Cats’, c.1517-18; ‘A Star-of-Bethlehem (Ornithogalum umbellatum L.)’, c.1506-12; ‘Study of a woman's hands’, c.1490; and a study for 'Madonna of the Yarnwinder', c.1501. A wonderful delight for enthusiasts of the Renaissance era.
