Christmas cards reproducing four of the highly-coloured and exquisitely executed miniatures from the Sforza Hours, one of the greatest manuscript treasures in the Library’s superlative collection. Comprising The Annunciation, The Nativity, The Adoration of the Magi and Flight into Egypt, the rich, jewel-like colours of lapis lazuli-blue and fine gilding make these miniatures a treasure to behold. The Sforza Hours were commissioned in Milan in 1490 but later completed in Ghent – with the inclusion of these miniatures - by the Flemish miniaturist Gerard Horenbout (c.1465-c.1541) in 1517-20. Loved ones will delight in the fine details of these timeless and poignant images at Christmas.

I love the religious themes and the colours are lovely - but the quality just can’t compare with the Fitzwilliam Museum illuminated manuscript cards. These cards just don’t make the same impression.
