There is so much in mere objects, flowers, leaves, jugs, what not - colours, forms, relation - I can never see the mystery coming to an end', Samuel John Peploe, writing in 1929.
Collection of 18 cards featuring three vibrant still life paintings by Samuel John Peploe, a Scottish Colourist. Reproducing 'Still Life' from c.1913, 'Still Life with Roses, Oranges and Apples' from the 1920s, and 'Pink Roses, Chinese Vase' painted between 1916-1920. Reflecting Peploe's bold, colour-rich style influenced by the French fauves, Cézanne, and Picasso. The original paintings are now in the collection of the National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh.
Made exclusively for Museum Selection.
