Description
‘Alice thought she had never seen such a curious croquet-ground in her life; it was all ridges and furrows; the balls were live hedgehogs, the mallets live flamingos, and the soldiers had to double themselves up and to stand on their hands and feet, to make the arches’, ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’, 1865.

A most curious twist on traditional croquet, inspired by the nonsensical game played by the Queen of Hearts in Lewis Carroll’s 1865 novel ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’. True to the book, the set includes four painted wooden ‘flamingo’ mallets, each 80cm long with the heads attached, and four colour-coded wooden balls. With six plywood playing card markers on metal hoops and a start/finishing post for your curious course. Sure to delight players large and small, or 'off with your head'!

Haven’t used yet but all in good order. The mallets are a little shorter than normal so I suppose it can be used for adults and children.

Service Rating:
Expensive and poor quality, balls are too light, not solid wood and have already chipped and dented badly, will not last long, the hoops are. The hoops are too low after stabilising properly in the grass and the sicks do not twist cleanly and squarely into the bird head ends. All in all an expensive mistake and not worth more than £15.
