Description
Characterful reconstituted stone wall plaque offering a modern reinterpretation of the ancient pagan symbol of rebirth, the Greenman. Originating in pre-Christian cultures, the Greenman motif represents the cycle of life, death and renewal, often depicted as a face surrounded by foliage. Adapted by Medieval stonemasons from the 12th century, the "Green Man" type foliate heads first appeared in England, influenced by similar designs from France. These verdant figures were especially prominent in the Gothic architecture of the 13th to 15th centuries, symbolising nature’s perpetual cycle. The plaque features a hook on the reverse for easy hanging (fixings not included). Made in Britain, it is best overwintered indoors to preserve its lovely design. A timeless piece that is ideal for any garden or home setting.
