Description
Pretty tablemats bringing together studies of spring flowers by French artist and botanist Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759 – 1840). Known for his botanical watercolours, many of which were published as large, coloured stipple engravings. Redouté was a Belgium botanist and painter, inspired by the Dutch flower painting tradition and nicknamed 'the Raphael of flowers'. He produced delicate watercolour illustrations at Malmaison as a court artist to Marie Antoinette, whilst other notable patrons included Empress Joséphine and Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma. These table mats are made in Scotland and come in sets of four, with heat-resistant melamine and cork backing.
