This silver-plated pendant is set with an oval of jade, venerated in China since the earliest times, and overlaid with decoration recalling a motif from a Qing dynasty scroll. This is described as being silver but I’m afraid that it does not seem to be. The metal does not have that lovely sheen of silver and I can find no hallmarks. The chain is very poor quality. I put the pendant on a silver chain I already own and it looks a lot better so I have kept it as it goes with some jade ear studs I already own. Disappointing

This pendant is silver-plated rather than solid silver, which also explains why it isn't hallmarked, as plated pieces don't meet the weight threshold required. The pendant was lovely, but the chain was too short to go over my wife's head and its catch was impossibly tiny to use. We had to find another.
