Description
Striking hand-enamelled costume brooch decorated with faux pearls, inspired by the design of Imperial fans used at court during the Qing Dynasty. These fans were highly symbolic and ceremonial items that reflected the hierarchical structure of Chinese imperial authority. Crafted with meticulous detail, the design, materials and motifs of these fans conveyed specific messages about the emperor's authority, virtue and connection to the celestial order, contributing to the rich visual language of Qing Dynasty imperial court rituals. Our Qing Imperial Fan Brooch recalls the elegance and grandeur of this period, with the original now preserved in the collection of the Forbidden City Palace Museum.
