Hand-enamelled pewter with decoration based on the intricate knotwork illumination of the Book of Kells, created c.800 AD, now housed in Trinity College Library, Dublin . Made in England by AE Williams, est 1779, his clock showcases the elaborate and complex illustrations that surpass other Insular Gospel books in extravagance. The decoration blends traditional Christian iconography with ornate swirling motifs, including figures of humans, animals, mythical beasts and vibrant Celtic knots.
