A thoughtful ornament, hand-carved in Bethlehem from traditional olive wood, capturing a sensitive sculpture of hands clasped in prayer. The modelling echoes the exquisite study in pen-and-ink created by Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) in 1508. Olive wood carving is a craft that has been practised in Bethlehem since the 4th century when monks carved mementoes for visiting Pilgrims. In keeping with the long tradition of wood carving, this sculpture showcases the unique grain and colouring within the wood. Please note, each piece of wood will vary slightly in tone and patterning.

A beautiful piece that I bought for my partners birthday. Not only does it look so nice,but the fact that the olive wood is from Bethlehem and that the carving is from there, make this a very very special gift.
