Medieval Orange Tree Tapestry Footstool

Smart woven tapestry footstool featuring a design inspired by the orange trees in the iconic 'Lady and the Unicorn' tapestry series, now housed at the Musée de Cluny in Paris. Created in the late Medieval period, these tapestries are often interpreted as symbolising the five senses: taste, hearing, sight, smell and touch, with a sixth depicting "À mon seul désir" (To my only desire). The series portrays a noble lady with a unicorn and lion and sometimes a monkey, offering an enigmatic view into medieval love and understanding. Made in England.
