Description
Tapestry reproducing "À mon seul désir," c. 1500, the sixth tapestry in the Lady and the Unicorn series. Its meaning is debated, often interpreted as representing love, understanding or renunciation of sin. The Lady is shown placing her jewelled necklace into a chest, which may symbolise the rejection of temptation and self-denial of the senses, as seen in other tapestries in the series. Some interpretations suggest the lady asserts her free will or renounces passion. Others link it to the idea of a sixth sense, or understanding, influenced by Jean Gerson's sermons. The exact meaning remains mysterious. The A Mon Seul Désir tapestry is made from cotton and features a plain backing with an integral hanging sleeve.

Finally decided to treat myself to this. Had previously purchased two matching cushions. What can I say but "Wow" , soo beautiful, stunning and bigger than expected. Taken from the hangings in the Great Hall at Hampton Court Palace I believe. Just soo special.
