Rosebud Nightdress

Embroidered with a pretty rosebud motif inspired by a linen sampler from 1863, this white cotton nightdress is designed in a loose-fitting style. Linen samplers were often used by young women to practice their needlework, and floral motifs, such as roses, were commonly featured as symbols of femininity and domesticity in the 19th century. The nightdress features a frill at the neckline and sleeve edges, with a mother-of-pearl button front fastening extending below the chest. Finished with crosshatch pintuck detail and elasticated smocking across the bust in a midi-length style.
