Carnation Cotton Dress

Floral cotton dress recalling a chintz design from 1760-70 now held in the Victoria and Albert Museum. It has a scooped neckline, finished with a contrasting burgundy banding around the neck, waist and cuffs. For a touch of elegance, mother-of-pearl buttons run down the centre, and there are pintucking details on both sides. Since pockets were first sewn into garments in the 17th century, mens' clothing has been far more likely to include them. Righting this historical inequality, our Carnation Cotton Dress is finished with 2 side seam pockets.
