Description
Jacquard tunic echoing a late 16th-century Italian brocade now in the collection of the Rhode Island School of Design. Pieces like this were woven by hand before the invention of the jacquard loom by Joseph Marie Jacquard (1752-1834), which saw Italy remain a centre for sought after fabrics. Features include a small stand-up collar, V neckline with crotchet trim and decorative buttons. There is also pintucking detail on the front bodice and gathered panel for fullness to create a classic shape.

The tunic nearly felt right. I was tempted to keep the size 16, but it felt just that wee bit tight across the shoulders, so I exchanged it for the size 18. I feared this might be too large, but actually it is fine and I am happy with it.
