Floral Embroidered Tunic

Pretty cotton tunic with white-on-white embroidery recalling motifs from a fragment of a 15th century Spanish cotton now held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Most medieval tunics were made in one colour, although they might have a different coloured lining. Courtiers would have worn dyed or richly embroidered versions in wool, linen and for the wealthier, silk. This tunic reflects the style of embroidery from the period and the simple forms depicted in such manuscripts as 15th century Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry. Period details brought up to date, this top has a round neckline with v-shaped notch and side splits for ease of wear.
