Description
Printed cotton robe in white and aqua, recalling the work of Swiss artist Eugène Grasset. Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, Grasset was raised in an artistic environment as the son of a cabinetmaker and sculptor. After completing his education, he visited Egypt, an experience that would later be reflected in a number of his poster designs. He became an admirer of Japanese art, which influenced some of his designs as well. Grasset worked in Paris in a variety of creative design fields during the Belle Époque and is considered a pioneer in Art Nouveau design. Our Aquilegia Robe reflects his style, brought up to date with a relaxed fit and full-length sleeves, cream lace trim around the cuff and collar. Finished with practical side pockets and an adjustable waist tie, ensuring a perfect fit.

The pattern and colour quality are lovely. The material is quite thin so I would use this as a summer robe. The fit is all wrong, however. I am short but found that the belt is far too high up. It is also very narrow around the hips and the bottom of the garment and feels like it has been cut all wrong. It doesn't close nicely at the front when tied, but gapes open at the knees. I am a size 12 in trousers and skirts so I'm not sure how this is meant to fit up to a size 16/18. I am a bit disappointed as Museum Selection stuff is usually top quality, but will keep it as it is pretty and unusual.
