Victory 1945 in Photographs

A fascinating photographic survey which celebrates the joy, relief and gratitude associated with Allied victory and the end of the Second World War. Over 100 photographs from the Mirrorpix archive with short captions chart the end of hostilities in Europe on VE Day on 8th May, and then VJ Day on 15th August 1945. Evocative chapters explore celebrations, rebuilding Britain and commemoration; including Pre-fabs on the Isle of Dogs in 1946; children playing in a deserted airfield in 1947; to commemorations of VJ Day in Middlesbrough in 1995 and VE Day in Liverpool Anglican Cathedral in 2015.
