Description

The first in an evocative series of mysteries set in the grand hotels of war-torn London, introducing Detective Chief Inspector Coburg in an atmospheric, period-tale from acclaimed British author Jim Eldridge (b.1944).

August 1940 and Detective Chief Inspector Coburg is called to The Ritz hotel in London where a body has been found in a room belonging to one of the entourage of the exiled King Zog of Albania. The son of a Duke, Coburg seems the perfect ‘high society-candidate to investigate a murder with regal and diplomatic dimensions. When the victim turns out to be from rather less elevated society-circumstances the case takes a dark and dangerous turn. Assisted by Sergeant Lampson, can Coburg untangle a web of deception while juggling the competing interests of the security service, diplomats, and London’s gangsters? All while surviving in a city under fire.

Items purchased between October 1st and December 23rd can be returned up to January 14th.
