An enthralling and evocative collection of Welsh-themed mysteries, republished from classic tales in the collection of and carefully curated by the Library. 14 short stories, in English; originally published 1909-c.80s, the mysteries showcase the work of Welsh authors or characterful Welsh locations. Includes ‘The Way Up to Heaven’ from 1954 by Roald Dahl (1916-90); ‘Water Running Out’ from 1927 by Ethel Lina White (1876-1944); and ‘The Chosen One’ from 1966 by Rhys Davies (1901-78). Mixing well-known names, such as Michael Gilbert (1912-2006) and Christianna Brand (1907-88), with less-familiar authors, such as Cledwyn Hughes (1920-78) and Frank Howel Evans (1867-1931). From icy Welsh peaks to dark grievances in villages of the Welsh valleys, these tales will thrill and delight any lover of Wales or Welsh writing.
