Description
Striking silk scarf is based on Blossoming Cherry on a Moonlit Night (1932) by Japanese artist Ohara Koson (1877–1945), a key contributor to the shin-hanga movement. Revitalising traditional ukiyo-e art of the Edo and Meiji periods (17th–19th century), shin-hanga maintained the collaborative hanmoto system, involving artists, carvers, printers and publishers. Aimed at Western markets, the movement's romanticised views of Japan gained immense overseas popularity. This scarf features mixed blue foliage against a moonlit sky, finished with hand-rolled hems and a blue border. Design may appear paler on the reverse.
