Description
Art Nouveau-inspired silk chiffon scarf with a multicoloured design based on a detail from ‘The Dancer’, 1917-18, by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt (1862–1918), a key figure in the Vienna Secession movement who was known for his distinctive style that often combined rich symbolism and ornamental patterns. The Dancer (1917-18), is a beautiful example of his late work, which focuses on sensuality and intricate details. It was one of his first works shown in the United States in 1922, during a period when his art was becoming increasingly influential outside Europe.
