A year of flowers, grasses and foliage in refined greetings cards reproducing elegant details from ‘Flowers of the Four Seasons’, a series of panels from a painted screen created c.1800-18 by Nakamura Hochu (d.1819). Created in the Rinpa style with a typical gold ground, Hochu developed Rinpa painting in the, now, Osaka region of Japan. Rinpa style art focused on recurring natural motifs and references to the seasons and was popularly used to decorate home furnishings, such as screens, fans and scrolls. Each card features a verdant detail; mixing poppies, dianthus, lilies, flowering peas, chillies, balloon flowers, and more. Graceful shapes and colours to send to loved ones all year round.
